January 2002
Effective January 1, 2002, the California Sales and Use Tax Rate for Solano county is 7.375%.
On January 1st, the minimum combined state, county, and local sales and use tax increased from 7 to 7.25 percent, however, if you are engaged in business in a special tax district, your sales are subject to a total sales tax rate of 7.25% plus the applicable district tax rate.
Under Revenue and Taxation Code sections 6051.45 and 6201.45, the State General Fund portion of the sales and use tax rate increased by 1/4% on January 1, 2002, due to a California Department of Finance determination that the following conditions have been met: The General Fund reserve is less than 3% of revenues excluding the revenues derived from the 1/4% sales and use tax rate; and, the actual General Fund revenues for the period of May 1, 2001, through September 30, 2001, do not equal or exceed the May Revision forecast prior to the November 1st determination.
