Statewide Sales and Use Tax Rates decreased 1/4% on January 1, 2001. The decrease is the result of the legislation that requires a one-quarter percent reduction if the state reserves exceed four percent of the general fund revenues for the prior fiscal year and are estimated to do so for the current year. California's 1999-2000 year ended with a reserve of 10.1 percent of the general fund revenues and the California Department of Finance anticipates that the reserve in 2000-2001 will also exceed four percent of general fund revenues.
Effective January 1, 2001, the sales tax in Solano County was changed to 7.125%. If you have questions regarding the tax rate change call the State Board of Equalization information center at 1-800-400-7115. Tax rate charts are available by calling the information center or by logging on to www.boe.ca.gov/streimsched.htm.
