The Business of the Year selection committee had a task before them this year that no one envied. Criteria for nomination was: Demonstration of ethics and integrity in business practices; demonstration of leadership and excellence through customer service, employee development, safety, creativity, and innovation; demonstration in commitment to supporting and promoting Benicia Chamber of Commerce activities.

Winners (based on number of employees) were announced at the Chamber’s Annual Installation of Officers & Business of the Year Awards Banquet in January 2008 at the historic Clocktower. Receiving the award in the one to three employee category for numerous contributions to the Chamber and community was Advanced Mortgage Services / Alan Schwartzman, and in the four to twenty four employee category, congratulations went to Michael Trahan Design / Michael and Martha Trahan. Additional accolades were presented to the entire City of Benicia staff for their dedication, service and commitment to Benicia's business community.
